The perfect guide to understand difference between Simple Past Tense vs. Present Perfect Tense.

I- Simple Present tense has some connection with the Simple Past, or we can say that it has some effect in the present.
How? Let’s understand with simple examples:

1. I ate two chocolates (Simple Past)

Here, the action is completed.
• Present result- The chocolates are finished.

I have eaten two chocolates (Present Perfect tense)

Here, the past action has a connection with the present.
• Present result- I don’t need more.

2. My brother played the piano at an event. (Simple Past)

Here, the action is completed.
• Present result- The event is over.

My brother has played the piano at an event.

Here, the action has a connection with the present.
• Present result- My brother can play the piano again if he gets the chance. Or he is ready to accept another project.

So, these two sentences explain the present effect of the past.
